I’ve seen many ads, especially the print ads, taking the unconventional route and conveying the desired message by highlighting the lows of their competitors. Everyone knows that the approach is quite unethical, but everyone adopts this strategy once in a while to shake the mangoes off the tree. Displaying the same intentions and harbouring the same sentiments, this ‘Father’s Day’ ad by Durex condom gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘sarcasm’.
The ad goes like this – ‘To all those who use our competitors’ products: Happy Father’s Day’, and wins the battle hands down. I mean, have you ever seen a sword sharper than this? Bang on target, the condom company takes advantage of this auspicious occasion and slays down all it’s competitors in a single swish. If I were to rate this ad on a scale of ten, believe me, I would have defied logic to give it a twenty!
