Well, the Health Department is launching a new awareness campaign to reduce consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and encourage better nutrition among the New Yorkers. The campaign stresses on the shocking fact that a large serving of sweetened soda consists of about 26 packets of sugar.
This new campaign is similar to its previous campaign in which a subway poster showed soda turning to blubber, and the ad urged New Yorkers- Donât drink yourself fat. The campaign was known as Pouring On the Pounds.
There is a positive Maths for the new Yorkers- The Health Department reports indicate that the proportion of New York City adults consuming one or more sugary drinks each day declined by about 12% between 2007 and 2009.
The new campaign aims to encourage this trend.
