Italian fashion giant Dolce and Gabbana pulled off this print advertisement from Spain, after authorities and consumer activists alleged that it encouraged violence against women. Milan based fashion firm in its official communique has stated, ‘We are withdrawing this photo only from the Spanish market. They have shown themselves to be a bit backward’.

The advertisement apparently depicts a bare-chested man using his hands to pin a woman dressed in a black evening dress while onlookers are four other men in various stages of undress.

Moreover, the advertisement was drawing flakes since it was published. Recently Spain’s Women’s Institute has lashed out on the advertisement saying, ‘the ad not only reduces women to a sexual object but the image sends the message that the use of force as a means to achieve subjugation is admissible.’
