Derek Young is 12 years old, a swimmer, is born with hydrocephalus, a disease where excess fluid stores in the brain. But now courtesy to Children Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Derek Young can go back to its passion, swimming, without worrying about the water in his brain.
Derek’s story now will be featured on a 30 second CHOC commercial. ‘The stories that Make a Mark’ ad will be aired in A&E, AMC, CNN, ESPN, Discovery, HGTV and Lifetime.
In the commercial Derek glides through the pool. The ad was filmed for more than seven hours. But it seems Derek quite enjoyed the day. He says,
It was an exciting day…I was doing what I loved, so it wasn’t that bad, but if I was asked to do another commercial I might even say no. Those 30 seconds took a lot of work.
