GE has employed the services of reputed ad agency BBDO, New York, to create its new campaign, a series of three commercials. What we see is no ordinary hackneyed ad but films bringing to life folklores and antiquities. The might of the Olympic discus thrower in the ancient Athens is scuttled by the power of the gust creating the imagery of the wind power harnessed by GE to power the Beijing Games. The dragon in ancient China breathes fire to light up piles of grasses to heat water in the Jacuzzi built behind thatch huts resembles GEâs efficiency in harnessing power from organic wastes. Finally, we have the imagery of the crane that symbolizes GEâs fuel-efficient aircraft engine. This is a skillful portrayal by BBDO of GEâs association with both alternative energy and the Beijing Olympic Games, bringing the two in a single frame.
