Craigslist, the classified advertising Web site, which drew flak from many corners for its being used for illegal sex services, seems to be in a retrospective mood. The site has announced that it will drop the “erotic services” category in the U.S. and review all adult ads posted. Till now, Craigslist ads have been self-governed by the site’s users who decides whether they are illegal or inappropriate.

Several times, Craigslist has been criticized for allegedly being a tool for child prostitution.

A new category entitled “adult services” will be opened for postings by legal adult service providers. Each posting to this new category will be manually reviewed before appearing on the site, to ensure compliance with craigslist posting guidelines and terms of use.
