Contrary to trends, traditional ad market booms in China

In a time when almost every developed nation is increasing moving towards internet in terms of advertisement, there is one nation where traditional advertisement market is on boom. A latest report published recently by CTR Market Research show that a total China’s traditional advertisement market is growing at a phenomenal rate. The latest figures show that China’s traditional advertising grew by 18 percent in 2006, if compared against 2005.

The study revealed that a total 287.5 billion yuan have been spent on traditional advertisement last year. Overall, around 76 percent of total advertisement spending was directed towards TV advertisement while 16 percent went in newspaper advertising. These figures constitute 92 percent of total advertising expenditure.

However, one factor could be contributed that Internet penetration is not high in China in comparison with developed nations. And there are chances with increasing penetration of internet online advertising will also rise. The report conceded that in 2006 new media became more popular and has been one of the most important changes.
