Clorox forgets the target?

First of all, let me say that this new advert for Clorox is clever. What I want to ask is whether it targets the right group of audience? The advert is being shown at the 1960’s advertising-themed show Mad Men on AMC.

The advert features a man’s white, lipstick-stained dress shirt, with a title card that reads: “Clorox. Getting ad guys out of hot water for generations.”

Well, this is apt for the content of the show. But, Clorox is forgetting its core customer base, which is mainly consisted of women. What does this particular advert convey to those target audience? Nothing.

Ok, if it targets men who wants to wipe off any traces of their hanky-panky side from their better-halves and escape from ‘hot water’ that is OK.
