Beating the crap out of someone is not a noble art

If you are a boxer or a die-hard boxing fan who believes so, know that the Advertising Standards Authority in Britain does not believe so. The billboard, which promotes the David Tua v Friday Ahunanya boxing match has been deemed improper by the advertising watchdog just because of this sentence- “The Noble Art Of Beating The Crap Out Of Someone”

The complainant K Wilson said that the language used in the billboard was inflammatory and glamorised violence in an unacceptable way.

But the most noticeable question from the complainant will be this – just a few weeks ago, two blocks from the billboard, a man was viciously beaten to within an inch of his life by two young men. Was that noble?

But, the advertisers Duco Events disagrees. It says that it promotes the sport of boxing in a responsible, professional and controlled manner.” It further says that the language used was colloquial and within the lexicon of boxing.

That’s an argument which seems strong, but actually feeble.
