An anti-Peugeot advertisement was forced to be modified after a radio ad reportedly contravened broadcast advertising guidelines. The recent ad campaign by the Transport and General Workers Union had urging people to boycott Peugeot Citroen. The ad however has been withdrawn on the ground that it was directly referring to the company.

Peugeot is struggling hard this time around, owing to sluggish sales in its market in Western Europe and it was unable to make any investment in the Ryton plant because of high costs. This step resulted in cutting 2,300 jobs.
