This is a hard-hitting print advertisement rolled out by the Parkinson’s Disease Society of Singapore to create awareness about this deadly disease. The campaign aims at urging people to extend their help and donate to fight Parkinson’s disease. The advertisement is showing a man infested with the disease and how does he feels to undertake even simplest task of the daily chores. The advertisement is portraying pains and difficulties of the patients suffering from this disease. It is showing how tough is it for a man even to move to the bathroom due to the disease.
The presentation of the campaign is undoubtedly very effective and striking that clearly spells out the effect of the disease on a person. The art direction of the advertisement is also impressive. The copy of the ad reads, ‘The body starts to tremble uncontrollably, limbs stiffen up like boards, movements are painfully slow and jerky, speech is slurred, maintaining balance is impossible and even the simplest task becomes a living hell. This is Parkinson’s Disease. Currently, there’s no evidence to say why it occurs and who will be its next victim. And there’s no cure. The only hope is rehabilitation and therapy.
