An outdoor advertising campaign from Hythiam Inc. will don the funnyman Chris Farley who died in 1997 of a drug overdose. The ad will promote treatments for drug and alcohol addiction. The billboards along with the tagline “It wasn’t all his fault,” will also feature a photo of the actor who became a household name after the extremely popular “Saturday Night Live.”
Hythiam’s chief executive, Terren S. Peizer feels this would be an unusual way to see a celebrity in this fashion and the message perfectly focuses on the key issue.
To gain a right to use Chris Farley’s image Hythiam has paid his estate $25,000.
