1. Clearing nasal blockages with salt water

There is no medicine compared to salt water when it comes to clearing nasal blockages. It is not only an easy remedy to make, but also helps in removing bacteria and particles of virus from your nose. 1/4th teaspoon of salt should be mixed with 1/4th teaspoon of baking soda in 8 ounces of warm water. A bulb syringe should be used to squirt water into the nose. Put one finger on one nostril lightly and squirt water in the other nostril. Now let the water drain out. Repeat this process twice or thrice and move on to treating the other nostril the same way. This process has no side effects and can also be applied while traveling. One just needs to carry a bottle of salt and baking soda.

While fighting against cold and flu, it is important to eat the right kind of food, so as to improve our immunity. Bananas help in soothing the stomach. Black or green tea helps in releasing nasal blockages very easily. Chili peppers help in breaking up of the mucus in the lungs.

When one is suffering from cough and cold, both cold and hot temperatures are soothing. For making the hot pack, you can take a damp cloth and heat it on the microwave for around fifty five seconds. Do check if the temperature suits you. A pack of frozen peas can be, however, used as a cold pack.

This method not only gives you relief temporarily but also helps in moistening your throat. One teaspoon of salt in warm water taken thrice a day can be effective in relieving you of the ailment. One can even mix lemon juice in two cups of warm water with one spoon of honey to get relief from sore throat. Before gargling, one should allow the mixture to cool down. The process is not only easy but also time saving as it doesn’t need much time and money in preparing this mixture. If the individual is traveling, he can take a bottle of honey and a bottle of lemon juice with him. This process does not have side effects and results start showing quite soon.
