Self-publishing an eBook is a big step in any new writer’s life. However, hoping that it’s presence on Amazon alone would be enough to get people interested in it will get you nowhere. You need to be motivated and get involved in promoting it through social media since you won’t have the cushion of a publisher to do that work for you. Here are a few tips that can help you really get your eBook noticed.
1. Throw a launch party
Throwing a launch party is the classic attention drawing method used by publishers to create buzz around a new book. It shows that the publisher has confidence in it. Since you are your own publisher, you should throw a party to celebrate the launch of your own eBook. It doesn’t have to be too elaborate an affair though dressing up for it and posing with your eBook on a tablet would make it worth checking out to your social contact.
2. Put your book in your social media bio
No one likes being told to check out a new eBook over and over again on their social media pages. However, including that you’ve written and self-published an eBook your bio makes it a very classy way to tell people about it.
3. Create social media pages for your book
A self published eBook is a product in its own right. You being its publisher need to promote that product before you promote yourself. Hence, you need to create social media pages for your eBook to make it easier to find for your current fans and new readers. This way, you’d also be able to keep track of the fans of the book and reader feedback which is a crucial element in the promotion of an eBook.
4. Share reviews on your business and personal accounts
If a reader or another author/blogger gives your eBook a good or candid review, you need to share it through your social media pages sans spoilers. Human curiosity is such that we are intrigued with an object that another claims to be interesting. Plus, sharing these reviews would tell others that your book is being read.
5. Ask readers to spread the word
Amazon includes a share button for all the eBooks it publishes. However, you can ask readers to spread the word about the book at the end of it or on your social media page for the book. Remember to make it a humble appeal and not a forceful request.
