WHO report warns to avoid mid-day Sun

According to the World Health Organization Report, Global Burden of Disease of Solar Ultraviolet Radiation, the exposure to ultraviolet rays causes the death of about sixty thousand lives every year.

According to the report, by malignant melanomas causes about forty-eight thousand deaths and the skin carcinomas cause other twelve thousand deaths per year.

The report says further that UVR has also some good effects. It helps in the creation of vitamin D through skin exposure to the shorter wavelength of UVR (UVB).

But excess exposure might be dangerous.

WHO report also presents some sun safety measures-

# Avoid the midday sun

# If you are out during intense UV rays, take a shade

# Always go out wearing protective clothing

# Use good sunscreen

# Do protect kids from the mid-day sun.
