A vaccine is discovered by the scientists led by Kim Janda at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California that maintains weight loss. During the laboratory test, the vaccination given the positive results.
Earlier in 1999, scientists had discovered ‘ghrelin’ that happens to be the growth hormone regulating appetite and energy metabolism. Since then, the researchers were trying to manipulate ghrelin so people may lose weight.
Researchers developed three versions of the vaccine and applied them to rats, which were given the same amount of food and drink. Janda says two of them showed promise.
The journal proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published the detail of the research under the article, ‘Vaccination against weight gain’.
