Transcendental Meditation reduces heart risks too

An ancient Indian meditation technique is useful to fight against coronary heart disease. The Archives of Internal Medicine has published a study report that transcendental meditation (TM) decreases insulin resistance in coronary heart disease patients. This meditation process helps to lesser their blood pressure as well. Insulin controls blood sugar level in body and insulin resistance causes the reduction of body response to hormones that leads to metabolic syndrome.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), confirms that TM is a type of meditation which uses ‘mantra’ to protect the mind from entering distracting reflections. It helps to maintain the balance blood flow in different parts of the body. Earlier this process was said to cure the blood pressure problem but the recent study, which says that it helps to reduce the heart risks, is a new concept.
