Swedish Scientists to kill severe malaria with a new treatment

Malaria is slowly becoming an uncontrollable menace and the fact that it engulfs two million lives per year proves it. However, to combat the disease, Swedish researchers at Karolinska Institute have come out with their new treatment.

The new treatment uses a substance that simply prevents infected blood cells from binding and discharges blood cells, which are already bound.

According to the report published, scientists have successfully treated malaria-affected rats with the new substance and are now planning to implement the same on humans. It is quite interesting in the manner the Leader of research team, Professor Mats Wahlgren pointed out, ‘There’s often a lack of ability to treat people suffering from severe malaria. We’ve developed a substance that might be able to help these patients.”
