Pump up your memory with rose smell

rose smell 64If you want to improve memory then simply smelling roses would help you. A new study by the German researchers has popped out this interesting finding after conducting a short but significant study.

Study:-

Researchers studied the impact of rose smell on the memories of 74 volunteers while they played a game that required ‘concentration’. While doing that task, some of the volunteers inhaled the scent of roses. After that, volunteers slept inside an MRI tube then functional magnetic resonance imaging was used to track their mental activities during sleep.

Results:-

According to the findings leaping out of this study, smell of roses could re-activate new memories in the brains of people while they slept and as a result, their mental performance improved than before. Interestingly, when volunteers played game without wafting rose smell then they could just remember 86 per cent of the pairs while after inhaling rose smell they could remember 97.2 per cent of the card pairs. The study showed that after sniffing rose smell hippocampus (a part of the brain that determines memory) was much activated than before.

Conclusion:-

This finding is really amazing and quite significant too because, it could pave way for further research work on the memory related issues, raising new hope for patients suffering from memory disorders like dementia.
