Chemical hair dyes can leave your hair dull and lifeless in no time. The chemicals in these dyes also work to the extent of causing major issues like hair fall and dandruff. A safer alternative is to use herbal dyes for your hair. Herbal dyes are natural and completely safe for your hair.

They also offer subtle changes in hair color and so, will be a great choice if you want a muted change rather than a dramatic one. Herbal dyes also behave more like stains and fade off by themselves after a couple of months. Check out a couple of these herbal dyes that you can put together yourself in no time at all.

For Blonde Hair

Lemon juice is an effective remedy

If you want to color your hair blonde, try using lemon juice. The citric acid in lemon will bleach your hair nicely, giving it a faint golden glow in the easiest and safest manner possible. All you need to do is mix 1/3 cup of lemon juice with ½ cup of water. Add 1 tbsp. of almond oil to the mix and store it in a spray bottle. Spray a little amount of the mix on damp hair, combing it at regular intervals to spread the lemon juice evenly. Allow the hair to air dry under the sun (it will take about 20 minutes or so). You will start noticing the highlights soon enough.

For Red Hair

hibiscus

Thinking of going red? Then use hibiscus and calendula for the same purpose. Both these ingredients can combine together to give a strawberry blonde color. You can get a darker auburn shade with more hibiscuses though. In a pot, boil a quart of water. Add 5 tbsp. of hibiscus petals and ¼ cup of calendula flowers to the water. Let the mixture steep for 30 minutes or so and allow it to cool. Rinse your hair with this mixture after washing it every day until you get the shade of hair you prefer.

For Black Hair

black walnut

If you want jet black hair, consider using black walnut. The fruit comes with a natural brown-black stain that is very strong and can last for many weeks. Since it is very strong, it is recommended you use gloves while applying it on your hair. Steep ¼ cup of black walnut powder (placed inside a tea bag) in a quart of water overnight. Apply this mixture on damp hair carefully, combing it regularly to spread the mixture evenly on the roots and tips. Air dry your hair under the sun for about 30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Thinking of coloring your hair? Then consider opting for herbal dyes instead of chemical ones. These dyes will help you color your hair the way you want in the easiest, safest and most effective manner.
