Pureed Diet

There is no such thing as “good” or “bad” diets for lupus. There isn’t any food that can cause or cure lupus.
However, good nutrition is an important ingredient of an overall lupus treatment plan.

Lupus is an inflammatory disease. It might be possible, that some food can help lupus symptoms or can worsen them.
Your diet is a powerful foundation for you to work from to support your health. In fact, diet is so important that there are many testimonies of others who have healed from a lupus diet alone.
In general, a well-balanced diet that includes:

  • Plenty of fruits;
  • Vegetables;
  • Whole grains;
  • Moderate amounts of meat;
  • Poultry;
  • Oily fish.

You might also have to eliminate some items from your diet:

  • Alcohol. Normally, moderate use of alcohol does not cause problems for people with lupus, but it may lower the strength of some of the drugs utilized to treat lupus, may cause new health problems and may worsen existing problems. You should also avoid pop, energy drinks or others acidic non-healthy drinks.
  • Corticosteroids can bring up blood pressure and the levels of cholesterol. Also, corticosteroids can cause osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break.
  • If you have fluid retention that causes swelling, it’s recommended to lower the amount of salt and sodium-containing foods you eat.
  • Red meat should be eliminated as it can cause flares.
  • Avoid fatty food.
  • Avoid spicy food, it can trigger flares.

There is no doubt that what we eat affects how we feel and how good our immune system functions. The body is capable of healing his self; you just have to help him. You can assist yourself with highly nourishing foods that work with your immune system.
