Low triglyceride diet

Triglycerides are fats found in blood. When we eat, our body converts extra calories into triglycerides. These triglycerides are stored in fat cells. Later, these triglycerides are released to deliver more energy. These fats are the major source of energy for the human body. The presence of excessive triglycerides is not appropriate for the body.

Low Triglyceride Diet

You may have high triglycerides if you eat more calories. An individual suffering from high triglyceride levels must concentrate on following Low Triglyceride Diet. The diet demands an individual to eat less fat. Saturated fats must be reduced significantly. These fats are present in coconut oil, palm oil, butter and animal products.
Here are a few tips on how to follow the Low Triglyceride Diet.

  • Eat plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and fruits.
  • Consume low-fat dairy products and lean meats. Yogurt, margarine, low-fat cheese and skim milk are good options.
  • Decrease the intake of fried foods slowly. Start eating grilled, broiled, baked, and steamed foods.
  • Salad dressing, creamy soups, chocolate, and baked desserts should be avoided.
  • Determine what is the healthy daily calorie intake for you. Consume the number of calories that your body can burn immediately.
  • You must eat majorly from vegetables, fruits, fish and lean cuts of meat.
  • Don’t eat chicken with skin. Always trim extra fat from meat.

Here is a sample diet plan for you:

Breakfast Bowl of oatmeal or whole-grain cereal along with orange juice or low fat-milk. You can add fresh fruit to the cereal.

Snack Have an apple or pear. You can also eat assorted nuts.

Lunch Cook four ounces of tuna with a small amount of mayonnaise, whole wheat, water and stone crushed bread. You may cook it in low-fat yogurt with berries or other fresh fruit pieces.

Snack You may have the same snack as the previous one.

Dinner You can eat 4ounce meat pieces or grilled fish along 2 fist size fresh veggies and salad. The salad should be made of cucumbers, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, etc. You can add olive oil and balsamic vinegar to the salad.

Snack – You can have canned or fresh fruit in the evening.
