Late night working may cause breast cancer

Women who work at night shifts such as nurses, air flight attendants and round the clock company employees are at a major risk to develop breast cancer. The reason behind the risk is late night exposure to artificial light.

The researchers at the American National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences have concluded after a vast study that too much artificial light at night upset crucial hormone ‘melatonin’. It further increases the chance of developing breast tumors. This may be the cause behind the occurrence of five times more cases of breast cancers in western countries than developing countries.
