Doc's Advice: Watch Soccer, go to sleep

Soccer World Cup 2006 is on and healthy risks for fans too. Eye irritation and sleepless nights are the common problems for the soccer fans. Insufficient sleep leads to drinking, hypertension, diabetes and even heart attacks. Being the fan of the losing side is more health hazardous.

The Mental Health Department’s deputy director-general, Dr Apichai Mongkol, has already said,

less sleep may place World Cup fans at risk of physical and mental sickness. World Cup viewers should have a sleep from seven to nine hours a day to stay healthy.

Lack of comfort sleep increases dopamine level in the brain makes people nervous, panicky, lethargic and fearful. The low immune people may suffer insanity if they sleep less for a longer period. Viewers should avoid watching continuous matches. Avoid drinking coffee and alcohol to remain awake.

Dr Krisada Hanbunjerd, ophthalmologist at Bamrasnaradula Institute, has also warned that World Cup TV viewers may at the risk to develop eyestrain. Just take a five-minute break every half hour at least to avoid eye-related problems.
