San Francisco is now providing advice for safe sex and after sex advice to young people. This comes through text messages on cell phones. The health department was trying to establish it for a long time to make the youth aware about safe sex. The program comes in reaction to hiking STD rates among young people in the city. It is a copy of a similar program in London.
People send message written as ‘sexinfo’ to numbers provided by health department. They do get reply within seconds. Further the people were asked to clarify the problems by choosing some options.
The communication generally ends with a phone number to make a call for further help. The program is basically planned to be teen-friendly. The language of the message is written in the familiar words to youth.
