Viagra goes on sale over the counter

viagra 64As we know that 14th of February is approaching fast when lovers all round the world would be celebrating it as Valentine’s Day. However, this time 14th of February would be known due to some other reason too. Actually, from this day Viagra would be accessible to the patients just after a short talk with a pharmacist and following some simple tests, which would cost just about £50.

With this move Viagra would become the latest medicine in the series of drugs, which could be brought without a visit to the GP. This is definitely a good move as more and more patients with erectile dysfunctions would be able to access it. The following words of Alex Gourlay, Boots healthcare director bring out the same idea:

It is estimated that only ten per cent of the three million men who suffer with erectile dysfunction are currently being treated. We believe offering this program will improve access to treatment.

However, this fact can also not be denied that the use of Viagra can lead to serious consequences, especially in heart patients who are taking drugs called nitrates, as the combination could lead to dangerously low blood pressure. In addition, Viagra has also come out with side effects like blurred vision or vision loss in some patients. Perhaps that is the reason why this move is incurring upon mixed response. On this issue Alex Gourlay, Boots healthcare director opines:

It hopes the move, being piloted in three Manchester branches, will help more men combat impotence. It may even act as an extra form of screening to flag up other health problems.

But there are also fears that men without genuine problems could obtain the drug simply to enhance their love-making skills.

Keeping these aspects in the focus authorities should move further, since where in this move good possibilities are lying embedded at the same time an infinitesimal flaw may also lead to complications too.
