How to fight fatigue

Being fatigued can have many causes – like say a viral or sinus infection. However, causes for fatigue take on an entirely new direction when it comes to those who are in their 30s or 40s, with depression and anxiety not just leading the chart but also affecting the immune system as well. However, it has been demonstrated that fatigue can be countered by regular yoga. A few steps outlined below can help you combat fatigue.

Difficulty level: Moderate

Resources required: Bottled water, herbal tea, magnesium and calcium supplements

Instructions:
Regular exercise: Aerobic sessions 3-4 days a week for a minimum of 40-50 minutes is sufficient to help increase your stamina. However keep it moderate. Having a good stamina can work wonders when it comes to staying fit. Not just fitness, it also helps in preventing fatigue.
Take breakfasts regularly: Scientific research has proven that sugar levels are usually low in the mornings. Hence fatigue can creep in if one indulges in work without having breakfast. A proper and regular breakfast every morning can therefore help boost the energy levels and prevent fatigue.
Try to keep stress at bay: Stress, anxiety and depression are the cause of all evil (read diseases) today. Indulging in relaxing activities like yoga or meditation can help control anxiety and stress levels, the root cause of fatigue.
Drink plenty of water: Fatigue in most of the cases is also caused due to dehydration. Hence drinking a minimum of 8 – 10 glasses of water a day helps maintain the water balance of the body as well as keeps the body hydrated. And this in turn helps fight fatigue.
Combat insomnia: Indulge in sound sleeping habits. These include going to bed on time and as much as possible waking up at the same time everyday. Keeping a constant sleeping schedule not just helps regularize your sleep pattern as well as the quantum of sleep but also provides adequate rest to the body. Lack of rest is known to cause fatigue. Hence, a proper and sound sleep of a minimum of 8 hours can go a long way in fighting fatigue.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How can I improve my energy levels?
Try to eat food that is high in minerals, especially magnesium – such as soyabeans and white beans. Spinach too has been found to be a good provider of minerals. Eat as much as possible of fruits like apricots, banana, etc. as these are good providers of essential body sugars. Body sugars when adequate help prevent sagging energy levels and this in turn prevents fatigue.

Quick tips:
Shoes should be worn for utility and not because they are in vogue. People, especially ladies tend to wear narrow shoes which also have high heels as well as uncomfortable designs. These usually cause the wearer’s feet to stay in unnatural and unstable positions for the entire duration that they are worn. This therefore exhausts not just the feet but also the entire body – thereby resulting in fatigue. Hence though unrelated it is essential to wear shoes that give you comfort.

Things to watch out for:
If you are amongst those who have trouble sleeping at night and also do not feel fresh on waking up in the morning, there is every chance that you might be suffering from a sleep disorder. Get medical help immediately.
