Healing Somatization Disorder with Cognitive Therapy

All at some point experience disease symptoms of which no relevant cause is found. This is known as somatization disorder. Mostly women suffer from this problem. The problem mainly remains undiagnosed.

The patients usually make frequent visits to mental health practitioners, also undergo expensive diagnostic workups or even go for surgery to get relief from this problem,but they hardly get overcome by it.

Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) provides practical skills to the patients consisting various techniques such as supportive counseling, relaxation techniques, moderate exercise and sometimes anti-depressants also.

The aim of CBT is to reduce specific symptoms by protesting dysfunctional, irrational thoughts that help in creating and preserving them. The second aim is to explore the patients derive out of illness.
