Burning of lips and drying of lip skin cause the surface of lips to scrape or tear which further results in bleeding and sore. 1. Avoid using petroleum-based products and go for good quality lip balm

All those petroleum jelly products are not good for your lip as they block your lip skin from breathing. Instead of petroleum-based lip chap, you can try lip balm made by using ingredients like beeswax and vegetable derived oils, etc. They are good for your lip skin and if the lip balm contains honey it’s even better as honey is known to absorb moisture. You will start seeing the results soon. The dead skin will fall away, leaving your lip as good as earlier.

2. Applying moisturizer on your lips

After you brush your teeth at night, apply moisturizer on your lips and a little around your mouth. Be generous while applying the moisturizer. Leave it overnight for smooth, soft and perfect lips.

3. Natural remedy for chapped lips

Go for some natural methods of curing lip sore. Mix one teaspoon of salt in 2 cups of warm water and soak a clean cloth in that solution. Press that cloth on your lips for few minutes. Now, dry your lip and apply a good quality lip balm.

4. Other precautionary methods

You care so much of your skin and apply ample amount of sunscreens and lotion to protect your skin from the sun. Your lip is also important and, thus should not be ignored. Cover your face with a scarf every time you go out in the sun. Also, keep applying balm often for best results.

How should one heal burned lips?

Before taking any medication, check what level of burning has occurred. First level of burning will mostly cause pain and redness of lips, second level will cause the same as the first along with some blisters whereas third level will cause browned or blackened skin. You are recommended to go to a doctor if the burns are of second and third level.

1. Once you know what level of burn it is, apply a cold compress to the burned area carefully and do not burst the blisters.

2. Apply an ointment that contains Aloe Vera as the main ingredient and keep it protected by applying SPF 45 sunscreen.

3. If the burn occurs during cold weather, apply petroleum jelly after every 30 minutes as there is a possibility of lips getting dry and hence adding more to the burned lips.
