Hair-loss drug Propecia alter results of PSA prostate cancer screening test

All we know is that measuring PSA levels makes it possible to detect prostate cancer, but according to a new study, hair-loss drug Propecia lowers the reading on the PSA prostate cancer-screening test even if a man is with high PSA level, which researchers believe, can fail doctors detecting prostate cancer precisely.

Studied conducted earlier, have also evinced that Proscar, which is a drug given to men with enlarged prostates, affects the PSA test and Propecia is a low-dose version of Proscar.

This is really a startling revelation, especially for those who are taking drug Propecia to get back their lost hair but the use of this drug is not allowing them to know their actual PSA level.
