Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a bioengineered heart muscle or BEHM with organized cells and interesting thing about this bioengineered heart muscle or BEHM is that it functions like a natural heart muscle. For instance, it generates pulsating forces and reacts to stimulation. Another good thing about this three-dimensional tissue is that it has been grown by using an innovative technique, which is comparatively faster than the techniques used earlier.
But as the development of this three dimensional tissue is in its initial stage, which confirms the fact that still it would take a long time to come out for general use. However, one thing can certainly be said that with this researche we have moved one-step closer to bioengineered human organs.
