Viral diseases occur in an individual when the immune system of an individual is unable to fight off the virus. The virus attacks the cell of the human body and reproduces. The virus spreads further to the other cells and therefore the individual fall victim to the disease. Such individuals should be very careful while consuming foods during the summer. Those foods should be avoided by an individual that can trigger off the virus attack even more in the individual. A list of such foods is given below.

Avoid cold drinks

Most of the people prefer cold drinks to cool their body during the summer season. They prefer cold drinks to water often. While the cold drinks may seem to have a cooling effect on the body of an individual, it is better to avoid them. Consuming cold drinks instead of water increases the sugar content in your body and you feel energized all of a sudden. But this energy does not last long and you feel fatigued and tired after some time. People who suffer from viral diseases should make it a point to avoid cold drinks during the summer season. The virus becomes more active when it comes with such carbonated drinks and causes much discomfort to the individual. The cold drinks also interfere with the cooling mechanism of the body and facilitate the growth of the virus.

Avoid alcohol

During the summer season, there is an excessive loss of water from the body in the form of sweat. This leads to dehydration in many individuals. Individuals who are affected with some viral disease therefore should avoid consuming alcohol during the summer season. Alcohol is a diuretic substance and it leads to increased urination in an individual. This causes water loss in the body of an individual. People affected with a viral disease will face problems as a result of this. This dehydration will cause the growth of some kinds of viruses in the body and lead to discomfort in the body. Alcohol also increases the body temperature making it a fertile ground for the breeding of viruses.

Avoid fried foods

Junk foods like burgers, pizza, potato chips, French fries should be avoided by an individual suffering from viral disease during the summer season. These food items contain a large amount of oil and this harms the health of the individual. Moreover, these food items are deep fried and consuming them increases the fat intake in the body of the person. This increases the temperature of the body and paves the way for the development of the virus in the body. It is advisable therefore for individuals with viral diseases to avoid junk foods during the summer.

Avoid ice cream

Licking ice creams to beat the heat is one of the most preferred foods of individuals during the summer season. Many prefer ice cream to water. This helps in cooling the parched throats during the summer easily. As a result of this, many viruses in the body of the individual develop even more easily than before. When an individual is under the grip of a viral disease, his body becomes weak. Consuming ice cream gives the virus more chances to develop itself and cause more damage to the health of the person. Ice creams cool the body temporarily but in the long run it hampers with the cooling mechanism of the human body.

Avoid coffee

Coffee is a diuretic substance. It increases the urination in individuals and this leads to loss of water. This has a harmful effect on the body of those individuals who are already suffering from a viral disease. Coffee also increases the temperature of the body. This increased urination in individuals can cause dehydration and the increase in body temperature makes the body of the individual a fertile ground for the growth of virus. Therefore, it is better to avoid coffee during the summer.

Avoid dry fruits

Dry fruits must be avoided during the summer season by individuals who are already victims of some viral disease. Dried fruits have less water content and taking them during the summer does not add to the water content in your body, rather makes it further dry. This paves the path for dehydration. Dried fruits are also calorie rich foods and therefore consuming them gives one lots of fat and calories to digest. Individuals with viral diseases may not be able to digest the fats and calories properly and may become victims of diarrhea, gas or bloating.

Avoid spicy food

Consuming spicy food during the summer causes a rise in the body temperature of individuals. This becomes further aggravated when individuals with viral diseases consume spicy food and they experience a rise in the temperature of their body. This heating up of the body paves the way for the development of viruses in the body of an individual. Coupled with the viral disease, spicy foods also lead to gas and bloating in individuals.

Avoid trans fat

Scientists believed that by discovering trans-fat they have solved the problem of saturated fats altogether. Trans-fat is an artificial solid fat which is made from the plants. These are processed fats and they are one of the harmful foods that an individual can consume. These fats increase the level of the bad cholesterol level in the body and decrease the level of good cholesterol. This increases the body temperature of the individual and also increases the fat in the body. The virus in the body of an individual gets aggravated due to the extreme body temperature and causes discomfort in the body of an individual.

Avoid sugar

Consumption of sugar should be minimized by an individual. During the summer, consuming sugar in high amounts will cause damage to the health of an individual. Reducing the amount of sugar intake can help in maintaining good health of an individual. Consuming high amount of sugar will increase the metabolism rate and will also hamper the health of an individual. Individuals suffering from viral diseases should avoid the intake of too much sugar as sugar will energize the viruses in the body of an individual.
