Fiber diet

eating leafy green vegetables

Fiber Diet is designed to increase the supply of dietary fiber to the human body. 25g fiber intake is recommended to a normal person on daily basis. Plant based foods are usually referred to the term “fiber”. The indigestible part of these foods is rich in fiber content. Fiber is present in abundance in whole grains, vegetables and fruits.

Fiber Diet

It acts as a vacuum cleaner in the human digestive system. Fiber foods collect toxins and waste material inside the digestive system and excrete it from the body. Dietary fiber lowers the cholesterol level and helps in keeping us full. Increase water intake when you are on this diet.

Whole Grains

Make sure that whole grains are your primary source of fiber intake. Multigrain and 100% wheat are not whole grain so avoid such products. You may have two slices from whole wheat bread, 1 cup brown rice and reduced fat crackers.

Breakfast Cereals

Have those cereals that contain low volume of whole grain. Include half cup Fiber One, one cup of Frosted Shredded Size Wheat Spoon, oatmeal and one cup of Raisin Bran.

Beans

They offer more fibrous content as compared to plant based foods. Beans also contain proteins. Have one cup canned minestrone soup, quarter cup kidney beans in salad and low fat refried beans.

Fruits

You may have it any time of the day. It is preferred to replace desserts with fruits. Enjoy 1 large apple, 1 pear, 1 banana and 1cup of strawberries.

Vegetables

Have several vegetables throughout the day. Include them in your snacks. You can enjoy raw vegetables in lunch and dinner. Entrees can be prepared with inclusion of two or more vegetables. You may include 1cup of cauliflower, 2 cups of raw spinach leaves, 1 cup of cooked spinach, 1 cup of raw carrots and 1 cup of cooked broccoli.
