Food is the source of energy for a body which is like an engine. But intake of wrong foods can always deccelerate the system and make it inactive or lesser active. The intake of food and the process of cooking is very important. With better educative programs on nutrition and health , people of 21st century are being much more conscious than ever before. It’s always advisable to retain certain facts in mind while preparing a meal. Everybody burns certain amount of calorie by means of daily activities. But depending on the amount of energy one can spend , intake of food should be likely maintained. We should always keep certain facts in mind while cooking a leaner food for ourselves or the family.

1. While cooking it’s always advisable to use a teaspoon while pouring oil, rather than pouring the oil directly on the pan. This always helps to measure the amount of oil poured and is always beneficial.

2. Using a flat bottomed pan is always preferred to a dome shaped container as the previous one always helps you to land in lesser usage of oil. Dome shaped containers result in paradoxical errors, which leads a person to use more oil than necessary.

3. Usage of non stick pans is always preferred over normal ones as these helps in the usage of lesser amount of oil. Normal containers always absorb more oil and makes cooking uneasy.

4. The use of whole wheat is always advisable. Consumption of fibrous food is always good for health and helps in easy peristalsis movement of the stomach. Whole wheat for the preparation of pasta, bread, tortillas is always better.

5. Usage of fresh vegetables and sprouts as salads are a must for maintaining a healthy life style. Choosing vegetables of various colors, chopping them into beautiful cube shapes, garnishing with olive oil/ lemon juice is a very healthy practice. Green vegetables act as antioxidants and help the body to fight against pollution, diseases. Having a bowl full of fresh vegetables/salads is always advisable for people in all sorts of professions. Garnishing salads with yoghurts makes the food really interesting and attractive.

6. It is always advisable to switch to better mode of cooking like grilling, barbeque, roasting instead of frying /deep frying. These methods make the food tasty and results in consumption of lesser amount of edible oil. Use of lesser oil and more of flavoring agent/ sauces are preferred.

7. The choice of menus is very important for a healthy life. More usage of milk/yoghurts is always preferable and it maintains the protein content of one’s diet. Protein is the ‘body building element’ and should be the main preferential constituent in everyday diet. Cottage cheese, milk, yoghurt, sea fishes are the main sources of protein.

8. Usage of spices is good for health as it contains minerals and micronutrients. Spice makes the food tastier, yummier and tantalizing. Moreover spices contain antifungal, antibacterial properties.

9. In case if any member of the family suffers from diabetes, the selection of menu should be done in a more tactical way. The usage of potatoes, rice or other starchy ingredients should be lesser and the usage of fenugreek, cinnamon should be more. In that case the measure of oil used in cooking should be strictly maintained.

10. Consumption of white meat like chicken, turkey is always better compared to the usage of red meat like mutton, beef, pork. The former’s percentage of fat is lesser compared to that of red meat. Red meat can be consumed once a week or two. The rest of the days of the week should be occupied with salads, vegetables, sprouts, yoghurts, oats which are fat free/ lesser fat content types of food.

11. Vegetables/fishes while procured from the market should be farm fresh and should be washed in running water and salt in order to avoid any presence of microorganisms which might be harmful to one’s health. Cleaning is very important as it helps to cook healthy food and stay healthy.

Good health is not really God’s grace but depends on one self provided that if one follows the tips illustrated above. Cooking with a lot of spices, oil, and butter is not the key to tasty food. Cooking is an art and it portrays self confidence and one’s personality. Experimenting with culinary delights can really be exciting and the source of good health, provided one follows the lean method of cooking tasty food.
