Childhood cancer treatment causes sterility in women later

Women who had a previous experience of battle with childhood cancer, may become sterile later. This happens because of the cancer treatment. Sterility grows because of acute ovarian failure in these cases. The ovaries shut down after high levels of ovarian radiation.

This report is published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. The researchers surveyed the medical records of women participants in the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study. Females of 18 years of age were reported to have acute ovarian failure in case of stopped menstruating within five years of their cancer diagnosis.
