If parents smoke, the cancer causing chemicals linked with tobacco can be find in urine of infants. This research published in the Journal ‘Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Preventions’.
NNAL, a chemical byproduct produced in the human body when it processes NNK, a cancer-causing chemical, or carcinogen, found only in tobacco. This found in the urine of infants whose one of the parents smoke regularly.
A previous study pointed out that the first urine from newborns whose mothers smoked during pregnancy contained higher levels of NNAL.
The new research includes a six month program to make mothers aware to reduce their child’s exposure to this problem.
