Is calories in rice very high?

I normally eat rice and curry but my mom always use to scold me that by doing this i will out up extra weight but i am not believing it so i want a good reference and result that will give the amount of calories present in one cup of rice? I am fond of eating rice and it’s difficult for me to replace it with any kind of bread? If possible, tell me how can I make rice more healthier option to it?
