Last-ditch effort to keep bird flu at bay

One of the most obvious and common bird flu measures taken across the Eurpoean continent is ordering for the bird flu vaccine. While Italy has ordered 12 million doses of bird flu vaccine, France has asked for 14 millon doses, besides 40 million doses of any future vaccine. Meanwhile, Germany has invested €20m in developing its own bird flu vaccine that will be for the purpose of controlling human transmissions of the virus. Spain has now placed an order for 8 million more doses of vaccines and antiviral.
The next most common measure is regulation in poultry consumption, farming and imports, along with a check in the migration of birds. While Germany has completely banned poultry farming, France has given instructions to the farmers to keep the birds indoors. Same has happened to the chicken imports in Italy and Bulgaria. Similarly, Poland is cautious about millions of Siberian birds going to enter its territories.
In a report, The Guardian highlights the anti-bird flu measures being taking by already affected or threatened countries.
