Bachelor-Dudes-Guide-to-Healthy-Eating

A bachelor’s idea of a meal is a fast one, which involves absolutely no hassles at all. Almost all bachelors live on fast food, then go to the gym to burn those calories. As a bachelor, you must have consumed your fair share of ramen noodles and mac and cheese, burgers and Doritos. You do want to eat healthy but don’t want to be bothered to do the dishes, if you “cook” at home, and things do tend to pile up sometimes, and things tend to get out of hand. So the healthy option till now for you has been eating out at a nice restaurant, and hopefully you know what to order which would be good for your health. And if you choose to eat gourmet, you have to shell out the big bucks. So why not tweak your eating habits just a little and follow this nifty guide to eating healthy:

Breakfast options

Black coffee is not breakfast. Most guys just gulp down a cup of their favorite beverage and consider it their breakfast. Or have those sugar laden cereals which do nothing for health. It doesn’t take any time, but nor does boiling an egg. Eggs can be stored in the fridge easily and for days at a time, so you can stock up on them. Learn how to boil an egg, and once you’ve mastered that, you can get on to scrambled eggs and omlette. Eggs in any form are nutritious and delicious. You could boil a batch of eggs and store them in the fridge and just peel them and eat them, when you want to.

Pair eggs with oatmeal, or just have only oatmeal, your choice. Boil the water, put in 2/3rd oatmeal, stir once and take it off the stove. It’s that simple! Bung in some cinnamon and raisins or chopped fruits and you have a healthy and tasty breakfast ready in no time. If you have a sweet tooth, pour in some honey or mix some brown sugar to sweeten it.

Another great breakfast option is bananas which you can mix with yogurt. Now I’m sure you’ll never skip breakfast again and brag about making it yourself too.

Lunch

You probably eat at work, but there are days when you’re at home. You can buy pre-cut veggies and boil some potatoes and make yourself a delicious salad. Cut up a hot dog or salami or fry some shrimp with olive oil and toss them in the salad. Garnish as you wish and your lunch is ready.  Mix chicken or turkey strips with veggies and wrap them in lettuce to have a healthy wrap, which is filling at the same time. Tortilla wraps are tasty and nutritious too. Top this off with a fruit salad or an apple for dessert.

Dinner time

A little bit of prep can help you make dinner for the whole week at one go. Just buy a few things like cut veggies mentioned earlier, steaks, and chicken, pasta etc. Stick to the rule of always making double of everything at one go. For example, boil double the amount of pasta and pasta sauce, keep steaks grilled and ready in the fridge and eat on alternate days. Buy a rice cooker / Crockpot, and you could make a ton of things in that, (the net is full of recipes), apart from just cooking rice in that. Brown rice with vegetables and meat strips can be made at one go and you will be benefited by nutrition from all the food groups.  You could also boil liters of healthy broths where you could mix lentils, grains of your choice, vegetables and meat or chicken and freeze it.  Baking stuff is really easy too, just check the internet for how tos.

So you see just how easy it is cook your own food. A busy lifestyle and the unfamiliarity of the kitchen prevent bachelors from cooking and eating healthy. Eating at home is quite possible, once you decide to do it. It will save you a lot of money, and it’s really not that hard once you get the hang of it!
