A new treatment for eye cancer patients!

Good news for the patients with eye cancer, retinoblastoma. Actually, researchers at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have come out with a new treatment that is capable of treating retinoblastoma. Through this treatment, researchers are confident that they can reduce the size of the tumor largely and another interesting thing about this new treatment is that it does have minimal side effects. The good thing about this new treatment is that it can also be beneficial for the patients with breast, prostate and colon cancer.

According to an estimate every year, about 5,000 children are engulfed by retinoblastoma that comes out of immature retina. Retina is that part of our eye that detects light and color. Retinoblastoma was by now irremediable but with this newly emerged treatment I think many patients suffering from retinoblastoma will take a sigh of relief. Because this treatment will not be very expensive therefore, it would be easy for the developing countries to have it.

In the words of Wilson, M.D., a surgeon in the St. Jude ophthalmology division and a co-author of the paper:
