This airplayer with its scintillating black body is sure to grab attention. It looks quite classy shelved on a glass base onto a wall of your home. The Gallery G-17 Air is the latest offering from Klipsch. This soundbar has four drivers, woofers, and tweeters. The 2.5 inch woofer is powered at 20 watts while the two tweeters measuring 75 inches each have a vigor of 10 watts. The bi amplified system has two 90 x 90 degree Tractrix-horned. The blast of sound is full range and silky smooth. The gizmo is not very pricey, most will surely opt for this over others as it delivers quality for the price.

Pricing and availability

The price has increased slightly to $530, it was only $400 before.

What’s great?

The soundbar is packaged with a remote control, power adapter, pair of white gloves and a black piece of cloth. There is also a use guide to help you understand the system. The metal and glass base mounted with four screws will catch your attention. The soundbar looks like a treasure trove wrapped up in the cloth bag that stays scratch free.

It can be mounted on the wall where it looks riveting. A glass stand is provided with the system; place the device on this transparent base. The base provided is durable and it gets a firm hold on the wall due to the paraphernalia given to mount it. The gloves help you install the device neatly without scratching or scraping it. The black cloth is to cover up the speaker and it fits just right over it.

The player looks magnificent and premium, it is bound to dazzle onlookers. Despite its magnetic appeal, it will mingle into its surroundings very comfortably. This is mainly due to its plain looking grill. The buttons are black and have translucent pointers. The airplay and power buttons also light up when switched on. The device weighs about 7.5 pounds and the soundbar looks quite hard wearing.

The blare from the glossy device is absolutely mind blowing. To match up with its rock solid exterior, the racket of music reverberating from the system enthralls. The pitch, blast and sonic notes are lucid and extraordinary. When you turn up the volume the explosive sound is completely distortion free and has sheer translucency. You can clearly hear the sound standing several feet away. Even the low notes come out beautifully. While the bass notes are also very powerful.

It is easy to operate this device, it has all the standard functions fitted in. Located on the right side are the controls for volume, power, inputs, and wireless settings. The buttons are switched on and off swiftly with a clear click. All functions displayed on the speaker are also available on the remote. The remote also adds in few other functions like forward, rewind, play, and pause.

Access WiFi and stream music through iDevices or iTunes. A 802.11b/g WiFi network is good enough for the device. You can also access its network using your Macbook, laptop or home PC. Using the browser, enter the IP address and you can log on to soundbars web page. There are ample of plugs for connectivity and operation buttons behind the device; there is a 3.5 mm jack, USB port, power button, reset option, bass port, and the IR receiver.

What’s not so great?

Although the sound quality is pretty good, the mids do not come through well. Installing an EQ would help to better their quality.

With so many operations slotted on the remote; some vital buttons for repeat, mute and shuffle have not been embedded.

Things to watch out for

It can be difficult to see the volume indicators clearly, so while setting glue your eyes on the buttons.

You will have to put in some work to mount the gizmo. Adjust the bracket and fit in the screws.

Verdict

Most of the other speakers in the market are a lot tougher to assemble. Putting together Air play would be a cakewalk and the device is also not as pricey as its competitors in the market. It looks breath taking and the blare of music will have you tapping your feet in no time. Overall, this is a very good bargain and a high performance system.
