The foot-and-mouth outbreak in Vietnam is largely affecting domestic animals as well as farm animals. Twenty-seven of sixty-four provinces and cities became affected with this disease. Foot-and-mouth, also named as hoof-and-mouth, disease does not affect humans. The World Organization for Animal Health has ranked this disease as the most dangerous and infectious cattle diseases.
The Hanoi conference is organized by health ministry to discuss about the outbreak and its cause like cattle imports. The government official said that the local veterinary centers did not call the appropriate people when they discovered the infection. Media was the first to report about such outbreak in country. The government officials are now at high alert and to stop such viral transfer from outside the country.
