World Kidney Day Held for the First Time Ever

To tell us that its time to focus on the rapidly advancing disease, yesterday was held as the ‘World Kidney Day’ for the first time ever. It is a significant milestone in pushing forward the agenda of bringing focus on a rapidly advancing disease – kidney failure.

On this occasion Dr. Rajan Ravichandran, nephrologist and director, Madras Institute of Nephrology, Vijaya Health Centre says, that with over 1.5 lakh persons suffering from end stage renal disease (ESRD) each year in India, the need to screen and detect patients with kidney disease as early as possible cannot be overstated.
