Working in Rotating Shifts May Develop Cancer Risks!

Cancer can be linked to occupational work. Yes, it’s true. If you are working in shifts you need to be attentive. As people working rotating shifts are more likely to have the risk of developing cancer up to four times than those working in day or night shifts.

Men can be highly risked to develop prostate cancer whereas women with breast and bowel cancer. Reduced secretion of a hormone called ‘melatonin‘ found to be the cause behind it. Melatonin helps to fight cancer to be developed in the body.

The study also stated that rotating shifts cannot be totally blamed for developing cancer risks rather other factors can also contribute to its development which can be disturbances to natural rhythms of body and to absolute sleep, unhealthy diet and smoking also liable for cancer up to some extent.

The study requires further research work as no proper evidence found to be linked with cancer development relating to all these factors. People working in rotating shifts need to take advice from a specialists in this regard and may limit their work in some proportion.
