WHO to launch Polio project in more difficult regions

World Health Organization (WHO) is going to organize a massive immunization program in Afghanistan and Pakistan this week. With the help of ten of thousands health workers WHO has targeted to make this area a complete polio free. About 16 million children of the isolated and border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan are set to be vaccinated for polio. The teams will work in areas geographically difficult and seriously insecured as well.

The WHO had launched a global campaign in 1988 to eradicate the polio virus. The project failed to eradicate this virus and polio infections by 2005. WHO considers the campaign as back on way and the global polio eradication project will be reachable.
