TRIM5-alpha weakens HIV in apes, not in humans!

The HIV-1virus doesn’t transmit a disease to monkeys such as the African green monkeys and rhesus macaques. The monkey cells contain a protein named TRIM5-alpha. This is a part of intrinsic resistant system that calls for first line resistance against the disease. It usually stops duplication of the virus. It makes HIV fragile to attack.

When the virus crosses in humans, the same proteins make things bad for them. The human immune system causes HIV, a terrible disease. This is the topic of research. Scientist at University College London is looking into the matter and are on the way to get the conclusive study.
