WHO chief dies following brain surgery

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Lee Jong-wook, 61 has died. He died two days after emergency surgery for a blood clot on his brain. Earlier it was said that he was covering. Mr. Lee became head of the WHO in 2003. He, a Korean national, worked for the WHO for 23 years.

Spain’s Health Minister Elena Salgado confirmed his death on the opening session of 192-nation annual assembly. The assembly was suspended for 30 minutes following the announcement.
