The New England Journal of Medicine has published a report as a correction of its previous report by stating that the heart risks do not need the use of Vioxx for eighteen long months.
The journal says that Vioxx use for three months only may lead to heart risk. This correction is of a report published last year in the journal that said Vioxx as a potential cancer prevention therapy.
Earlier the company confirmed that the treatment with the drug may double the risk of heart attacks only after eighteen months of daily use.
The journal’s correction may cause the possibility of more lawsuits against the company. The company is already facing 13,000 lawsuits against it.
