How to Use Self Tanner

It’s summer time and this means that you can rid of your wardrobe from all the woollies and covered clothing. Be prepared to rock your summers with great legs, better so, if you have tanned legs! There are so many ways to use tanning lotions and fake tans, which is easier to do and quite light on the pocket too!

You do not need to get professional help of a spray tan artist for that perfect customized golden tan and if you follow this list of do’s and don’ts of tanning at home- you are sure to get an amazing faux tan:

Firstly, make sure that you exfoliate your skin and scrub off the old hard dry skin. Do not be too rough while doing so; just using a moisturizing body wash and a washcloth is enough. Do pay attention for your rough and dry areas such as the elbow, knees and feet. This is because a self-tanner tends to be over absorbed in dry areas and will appear dark. So in order to avoid that, buff the skin gently before application.

Another thing that you must avoid is shaving the skin immediately before applying the self-tanner. Shaving works like an exfoliater and should be done before applying a self-tanner, but not just before the process. Shaving leads to cuts and open pores and this can irritate the skin while applying the tanner.

Always apply self-tanning in the evening, as clothes, rain, and showers can end up interfering with your tan while settling. For it requires eight hours for a tanner to settle in. Doing it in the evening and leaving it overnight will produce better results.

Another thing to avoid is sweating, which will wash away your faux tan instantly. Make sure that you stay in air conditioning while the process of tanning us going on. Wear loose fitted clothes so that the tan stays on evenly. Also, do not tan yourself excessively as your tan will appear blotched up!

Start with a gradual self-tanner that adds natural color over a course of time. Also, make sure that you wear gloves while applying the self-tanner and perhaps get your friend to help you out so that she can reach out for those tough areas on your back. Do not apply a second coat, as it will not make the tan darker. Make your golden tan appear glowing for days by taking warm showers and patting yourself dry when you come out.
