See a doctor:

It is recommended that you see a doctor if you develop any of these symptoms, this is because the symptoms of vaginal yeast infections are similar to that of serious STD’s like gonorrhea and Chlamydia. The common symptom is the discharge. If you have contracted yeast infection before, talk to your doctor about the medications that you can take.

Practice good hygiene:

This is often the simplest way to avoid developing an infection or spreading it. Wash your hands before and after you use the toilet, especially public ones. If you are outdoors frequently make sure you carry a hand sanitizer with you. If you have already contracted yeast infection, then stay at home for a few days till you heal, and ensure that you stick to good hygiene practices.

Wear loose, dry clothing:

Yeast normally thrives in moist and warm conditions where there is little to no oxygen. Drying your vaginal areas thoroughly after you are done showering or bathing is one way to keep yeast growth under control. Wear cotton underwear that lets you breathe, loose pants made out of nylon, preferably those that have cotton lined underwear built inside. Don’t lounge around in wet clothing for too long; change out if your bathing suit as soon as you get out of the pool.

Don’t share any items:

To prevent the spread of the infection, don’t share things like soaps, towels and bathwater. Wash your clothes in hot water separately to which you may add a cup of white vinegar. The secretions from the yeast can irritation the outer lining of the genital area, washing the area frequently can give you some relief from the itching and burning till the medication eradicates the infection.

Recurring yeast infection:

If you have developed the symptoms more than four to five times a year, you should see your gynecologist. They will take a swab from the area to determine the situation and prescribe you with the correct medications.
